Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane is among the longest-serving players of the club together with goalkeeper Denis Onyango.
Unlike the Ugandan legend who’s normally not in the team this season but used to be a key figure in the past, Zwane is arguably the most important player in the team today.

One might also say in terms of awards that Teboho Mokoena has been more successful since his arrival at Sundowns. However, speaking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview, Lebohang “Cheeseboy” Mokoena has labelled Zwane as the glue that holds the Brazilians together and that he is irreplaceable.
“Any team needs a player like Themba Zwane in their squad who has that amount of games under his belt. He has won a lot of trophies and he has been consistent along the years,” Mokoena told the Siya crew.
“Themba has shown that he has become the glue that holds the team together. He has proved that he is irreplaceable in the team. You always see the difference if he is not playing. He is a true captain. Personally I think he is the difference between Sundowns and the other big teams.
“They don’t have a player like him in their squads. Look at the league titles be has won with Sundowns. Look at the influence he has on the team whenever he is playing. Yes, there are other players who are doing great work for the team but you have to look at the work and influence Themba (Zwane) has on the other players and the club as a whole.
“His contribution can not go unnoticed at all and it works for the team,” Mokoena concluded.
