Due to the close relationship, the losses hit even harder. NBA veteran Kevin Garnett recently experienced something similar.

The 47-year-old recently shared a series of Instagram stories, highlighting the importance of our “day ones”. Garnett mourned the loss of an ex-WNBA star who recently passed away at the age of 41. The veteran extended his condolences to the late soul and prayed for her family and friends.

As harsh a reality as death is, no one is ever fully prepared for it. The ex-WNBA star Tasha Butts, was 41 when she lost the fight for her life on October 22nd. As per several reports, she was fighting a prolonged battle with breast cancer and after holding her own for over two years, she was taken away from the world.

Butts was more than just a WNBA athlete, she represented things bigger than the sport itself. After her retirement, she took the role of a coach, and from 2007 to 2023, she dedicated her life to improving others’ skills in basketball. She last coached the Georgetown Hoyas Women’s basketball team.

KG was deeply moved by the news of her passing. The 47-year-old posted an image of her to pay his tribute. He wrote “REST IN POWER QUEEN”. “Condolences to TASHA’s family and friends. Will be sadly missed,” the Boston Celtics legend continued. In addition to his condolences, Garnett also highlighted the importance of keeping your loved ones in your prayers. He urged his fans to keep checking up on their day ones and look after one another. The NBA veteran added “Life’s short”, and that we should focus on living life the best way we can and keeping our loved ones closer.

Tasha Butts legacy

The Georgetown ex-coach has left behind a wonderful legacy that will continue for the upcoming generations. Although she last coached Georgetown’s women’s team, she had taken up four other projects in her career as a coach. The list includes the likes of LSU and UCLA as well. Following her demise, prayers started flocking in for Butts. Georgetown athletic director Lee Reed said that he feels heartbroken and is keeping Butts’ family and friends in his prayers.

“She exhibited these qualities both as a leader and in her fight against breast cancer,” he added.
